LANDO NORRIS has signed a new megabucks deal with McLaren, worth around £120million in total, until the end of the 2030 season. The British 26-year-old’s new deal is reportedly in the region of £30m a year – cementing him as F1’s third highest earner. Verstappen’s new contract with Red Bull, announced at the Dutch Grand Prix last weekend, prompted speculation it was worth as much as £73.9m a year. 26-year-old Norris lifted the drivers’ title last term, McLaren’s first since Hamilton in 2008. Norris said: “ It’s certainly not close to the figures I’ve been seeing online sadly. Of course it’s a bit more with any job when you extend. “It’s certainly not close to the level of Lewis or Max, “It shouldn’t be because I’ve not achieved as much as they have in their career. “In a way, I believe it should be, because I believe I can fight against them whenever I need to and I can do a better job whenever I need to. He has been with them ever since and his current deal was due to run until the end of this year. Norris said that he had not considered leaving McLaren and had made no approaches toward other teams, although some had shown interest in him.
