Keralam govt. to crackdown on fraudulent agencies

Ramesh Chennithala | Photo Credit: File Photo Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has directed the State Police Chief to take stringent action against agencies and persons who allegedly defraud jobseekers by promising employment and educational opportunities in India and abroad.Mr. Chennithala, while interacting with mediapersons here on Friday (September 25), said the government has been receiving a growing number of complaints from people who purportedly paid large sums to agencies after being promised jobs, but were subsequently cheated.According to the Minister, the alleged fraud is not confined to overseas employment. Complaints have also been received against groups which promise college admissions and opportunities to pursue education, including MBBS courses, in foreign countries.He added that certain agencies and people suspected of involvement in such activities were under police surveillance. Strong legal action will be initiated against those found involved in such rackets.The police apprehended the chief executive officer of an immigration firm in Kochi for alleged job fraud a day ago.
