Karnataka High Court sets up SIT headed by DGP Alok Kumar to probe KPSC irregularities

A view of High Court of Karnataka. | Photo Credit: SREENIVASA MURTHY V The High Court of Karnataka on Monday (September 21, 2026) constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by senior IPS officer and Director General of Police Alok Kumar to probe all the recent alleged irregularities in the Karnataka State Public Service Commission (KPSC) while giving 100 days to SIT to complete the probe and submit a report.Justice M. Nagaprasanna passed the order on the petitions filed by MLA Basanagouda R. Patil Yatnal, All Karnataka State Students’ Association, Bengaluru and others.The other members of the SIT are, IPS officers Divya V. Gopinath, Anoop A. Shetty, Kushal Chouksey, and Kshama Mishra.The Court said that the SIT will undertake a de novo investigation into the cases and would also cooperate with the Enforcement Directorate (ED ), which has taken up the probe into these cases under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.The petitioners have sought transfer of the probe against KPSC’s suspended chairperson Shivashankar S. Sahukar on selection his daughters to the post of Industrial Extension Officer, a Group ‘C’ post; and alleged illegalities in the process of selection of candidates to the posts of Veterinary Officers.While transferring the two separate First Information Reports (FIR) registered with regard to Mr. Sahukar’s daughter’s selection and the recruitment to the posts of veterinary officers, the Court also gave liberty to the SIT to investigate any other offence that it come across during the probe.
