Police said that all 13 of the reported thefts involved the Japanese Nissan cars and warned other owners to remain vigilant. The crimewave hit Caerphilly, South Wales, to target the Jukes mainly made in Sunderland.Gwent Police said that one of the stolen vehicles had been recovered and was being examined by crime scene investigators. The cars cost around £24,000 new – and fetch good prices second hand. It is not known why the cars were targeted but the Juke is one of the most stolen cars in Britain, according to data by WhatCar? Some 1,200 were stolen across the UK in 2025 up 17 per cent from the year before. It was the sixth most stolen car in Britain against a backdrop of generally declining reported thefts. Gwent Police said that one of the stolen vehicles had been recovered and was being examined by crime scene investigatorsThe first-generation Juke – sold between 2010 and 2019 – is extremely popular with thieves. Of all Jukes stolen last year, 88 per cent (1,055) were the original. Caerphilly residents have streamed to social media to tell of their missing car. One Facebook user based in Caerphilly said that her car was 'still missing' and that five 'Nissan Jukes/Navara's have been stolen'. Another found an allegedly stolen vehicle abandoned in a different part of town. A spokesman for Gwent Police said: 'Caerphilly South police community support officers have located a stolen Nissan Juke, one of a number of these vehicles reported stolen across the area within the last 24 hours. 'The vehicle has now been recovered for CSI examination, with enquiries ongoing to identify those responsible.'He added: 'Caerphilly officers are reminding residents to be vigilant following car thefts in the area.'Officers are investigating a number of car thefts which have taken place across the Caerphilly borough in the past 24 hours.'At this time, 13 Nissan Juke cars have been reported stolen.'Police have increased patrols in response to the Juke crime spree and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the thefts.
