Published October 3, 2026 04:03 PM The Commanders have an alternate helmet that adds a spear to the W. Speaking to reporters on Saturday in London, Commanders owner Josh Harris didn’t rule out making the spear a permanent part of the helmet.“Obviously, everyone is enjoying what we’re doing, it’s just embracing the past as much as we can in a respectful way, and we’re gonna keep looking at, you know, how we keep doing that,” Harris said, via John Keim of ESPN.“I like the spear. I mean, what can I say? You know, it brings everything together a little bit. It brings, you know, obviously, the special forces and Native Americans and the Roman gladiators, of course. So, I like the spear. And, you know, obviously, we had it on our helmet way back.”It remains to be seen whether a revised logo will consist of the W with a spear in it, or just a spear. Regardless, the franchise continues to move toward the name and logo it abandoned in 2020. The only question is whether they’ll eventually decide to bring back the name and/or the logo.
