Published September 25, 2026 09:31 AM Packers quarterback Jordan Love passed for 312 yards while the running game gained 17 yards in Thursday night’s loss to the Falcons, and Love says that needs to change. The Packers’ two running backs, MarShawn Lloyd and Kaleb Johnson, each got only four carries. Lloyd gained 11 yards and Johnson gained six yards. Love says that’s not enough.“Our run game’s got to improve. When you have a solid pass game and run game balancing each other, that always helps,” Love said. “Obviously, our run game, I don’t know how many rushes we had, but it’s something we need to improve on right there. I think that’ll help the pass game.”The Packers took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and were tied 7-7 for most of the second quarter, but once they fell behind Love said it was harder to commit to the run.“We got behind tonight and it didn’t look good,” Love said. The Packers are hoping that their starting running back, Josh Jacobs, will play eventually this season. Jacobs is currently on paid leave and is likely to be suspended without pay after pleading no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property stemming from an incident involving his ex-girlfriend. Getting Jacobs back might help, but the Packers’ running woes appear to go deeper than the running back position. Green Bay’s offense needs to get better, and the Packers can’t afford to wait until Jacobs returns.
