JORDAN Brook fought back tears while recalling the scary moment doctors suspected a brain cancer diagnosis – amid his battle with meningitis. Speaking on the By The Brook podcast – co-hosted with his partner Sophie Kasaei – Jordan opened up about a frightening moment in his health journey. Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! It came after doctors performed a lumbar puncture – a procedure in which spinal fluid is drained and examined in a lab. Following this, doctors told Jordan they were considering the possibility that he might have had brain cancer. Sophie’s holding my kid. Most read in TV “You never want to hear about your partner. It was the worst time of our lives ever. “And the most messed up thing, and this is the tricks that the hospital played on my mind, when the doctor said it could be cancer, you think that’s the worst case scenario, right? “You think, oh my God, that’s the worst case scenario. “Then four days later, you find out what you’ve got, which is viral meningitis and encephalitis, and you find out that could actually kill you quicker. “So the mental tricks it plays on you, where you think, I actually get, let’s go like, if it was a brain tumor, brain cancer, they’d know what it was and could cut it out.” Pregnant partner Sophie was left helpless by his bedside, crying herself to sleep every night not knowing if Jordan would ever come home. Every time she visited, they would talk about their unborn child they call their “miracle baby” after a gruelling two-year IVF struggle to conceive. Jordan previously told The Sun how this ultimately fuelled his fight for survival. He battled the top one per cent of worst cases of viral meningitis and encephalitis that his doctor had ever seen. Jordan said: “We have gone to hell and back trying to have a baby and suddenly there was a real possibility I was going to die before my son was born. “He saved my life because becoming a father was the one thing I held onto and never forgot – even when the virus was actively changing who I was.” In June, Sophie gave birth to their son, who they named Brody Jordan Daryll Brook. Jordan wrote on Instagram at the time: “The most amazing feeling I have ever felt. “My Boy, you are my everything and more. I can’t wait to show you this big wide world. “My @sophiekasaei_ thank you for giving me the world. I adore you.” Comment now
