A DOZEN left-wing political figures have been barred from Israel after the country imposed retaliatory sanctions on Britain. Israel also said it will close the British consulate in Jerusalem and eject UK officials from a Gaza support centre. Other moves include ending British training of Palestinian Authority forces and banning London-based, pro-Hamas law firm boss Fahad Ansari from Israel. Labour MPs Richard Burgon and Naz Shah have also been banned from the country. A US backlash was also feared after Foreign Secretary Mr Miliband called settlers “terrorists”. His claims were branded as lies by furious Israeli leaders after Labour announced an import ban on goods from illegal West Bank settlements. Writing in today’s Sun, Tory leader Kemi Badenoch says Labour has thrown British Jews “under the bus . . . to win back Islamist votes”.
