What will the DC film boss' next big project be? Image: Warner Bros./Everett Collection Sign in to your Polygon.com account James Gunn is hard at work on Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to 2025's Superman, but that hasn't stopped him from getting started on what's next. While the DC film isn't set to be released until next year, Gunn has revealed he's already writing his next project. Gunn shared the exciting news in response to a fan's question on Threads, the director's go-to social media platform. He joked that the writing started because he "had to do something while I was waiting for the assembly!" He was referring to the assembly cut of Man of Tomorrow, essentially the first draft of the movie's edit. Over the weekend, Gunn announced that the assembly cut had been completed, which likely means whatever writing project he was working on will have to be put aside for the time being as post-production on Man of Tomorrow continues. Unfortunately, Gunn didn't let slip any details about what his next mysterious project would be. It would be safe to assume it will be another DC project, as he has an exclusive deal with Warner Bros. Discovery (soon to be called Skydance following a merger with Paramount). While we know about a number of projects in the DC schedule, most of them already have confirmed writers and/or directors attached who aren't Gunn. It could always be a third Superman film or, fingers crossed, a true Justice League film. Gunn continues to shoot down Wonder Woman rumors Image: Warner Bros Pictures/The Everett Collection In addition to confirmation he's working on his next project, Gunn also had to put out a fire caused by one of Man of Tomorrow's actors. Frank Grillo reposted a fan-made poster for the film that depicted Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman, which has been the predominant theory among fans despite a lack of confirmation. Gunn, who had to lower expectations on this very topic before, took this as an opportunity to address fans once again. He wrote, "Frank doesn't know who Adria is playing in the DCU and whether or not she has any sort of incredibly small cameo in [Man of Tomorrow] or not. People have been making way too much of this." While a number of actors in the DCU are reprising roles, it's the new faces that have fans interested. In addition to Arjona, whose role remains a mystery, Matthew Lillard has also been the subject of widespread speculation. Just a few days ago, Gunn had to shut down the circulating rumor that Lillard would be the DCU's Flash.
