Planet Zoo 2: Deluxe Vs. Standard - Which To Get? Published Oct 25, 2026, 5:00 AM EDT Although Kaitlyn grew up with a passion for both video games and writing, she never imagined she'd eventually combine them into a career. Now, with several years of experience in the industry across Guides, Features, News, & Reviews, Kaitlyn enjoys nothing more than continuing to deep dive into the games she's passionate about and share her findings with readers. In her downtime, Kaitlyn enjoys unwinding with her favorite horror films, despite being a major scaredy-cat. These days, it seems like just about every game has multiple versions for players to consider, and Planet Zoo 2 is no exception. When you purchase Planet Zoo 2, you'll have the option to choose either the Standard Edition or the Deluxe Edition. Naturally, the Deluxe Edition is more expensive, so while that is an important factor in itself, simply being able to afford it also isn't a good enough reason to buy it. We've broken down what the Deluxe Edition actually offers you so that you can make that decision for yourself. How Much Does The Standard Vs. Deluxe Edition Cost While some games occasionally offer three versions to choose from, Planet Zoo 2 has only two: the Standard and the Deluxe. The Standard Edition, which is essentially just the game itself, is $50/£40, while the Deluxe Edition is $65/£55. The price difference is pretty standard for a Deluxe Edition, but being that the Deluxe Edition is still cheaper than the average modern-day triple-A release, this might be one to consider. What's Included In The Deluxe Edition As mentioned, the standard edition includes the game itself, and that's about it. The Deluxe Edition includes everything in the Standard Edition plus: 6 Additional Species: Golden Eagle, Golden Lion Tamarin, Great Hammerhead Shark, Axolotl, Blue and Gold Fusilier, and Longfin Batfish. Exclusive Animal Signs: These can be used to decorate your zoo. While the signs aren't as much of a big deal unless decorating your zoo is one of your main enjoyments within the game, the additional animals are really the main selling point here. The base game includes 130 different species, so there's certainly no shortage. However, if any of the ones mentioned above are especially important to you, then the Deluxe Edition is the only way to unlock them. As for whether the Deluxe Edition is worth it, I'm inclined to say yes. It's reasonably priced for a Deluxe Edition and, in my opinion, the various animals are the best part of the game, so I wouldn't be willing to miss an opportunity to have more of them. You can always purchase the Deluxe Upgrade Pack later if you change your mind, but you will pay a bit more for it than you would if you bought it as part of the Deluxe Version of the game. Most of the extra species do require an aquarium, so if that's not of much interest to you, maybe you should hold off, but the Golden Lion Tamarin is enough to sell me. Either way, there's plenty to enjoy and build the zoo of your dreams.
