The Gunners have clocked up significant mileage over the last seven days, having been to both Naples and Sunderland and returned with maximum points on both occasions. Their latest win at the Stadium of Light extended their winning run to five games in all competitions, with four clean sheets and just a single goal conceded. It’s no surprise to see Mikel Arteta’s side arrive as favourites in that kind of form, and there may be some added motivation following last year’s defeat in the final against Manchester City. Arsenal are also something of an anomaly in the League Cup. They’ve only won it twice in their history, with the last coming in the 1992-93 season, making it 33 years since they last succeeded in this competition. After such a gruelling week, Arteta is likely to make significant changes, although bringing in the likes of Victor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi is hardly a weakened starting XI. As for Ipswich, they’ve never won the League Cup, and changing that is hardly likely to be at the top of their to-do list. Gary O’Neil’s one and only assignment will be to keep the Tractor Boys in the top tier of English football following their promotion, and that’s started extremely well. Ipswich have taken six points from their opening four matches, beating Sunderland on the opening day before sealing a dramatic 3-2 win over Crystal Palace last time out. O’Neil is also expected to make plenty of changes, but Ipswich don’t have anywhere near the same strength in depth as their opponents. They’ve also lost each of their last four against Arsenal by an aggregate scoreline of 13-1. As mentioned, even the most ardent Ipswich Town supporter will want their squad rotated ahead of a significantly more important fixture against Everton on Saturday, leaving the hosts with a much less potent attack. Arsenal will make changes too, but as discussed above, the quality they’re able to bring in shouldn’t affect their tremendous run of clean sheets, even if Ipswich decide to field a stronger line-up. They’ve conceded just once in their last five games, keeping a clean sheet in each of their last three away games in all competitions. Bet: Arsenal win to nil at 13/10 with Betfair First goalscorer and correct score prediction Ipswich vs Arsenal First goalscorer: Viktor Gyokeres at 7/2 with Sky Bet Correct score: 0-2 at 6/1 with SBK Tip 2: Eberechi Eze to score or assist I can’t turn down Eberechi Eze at odds of 1/1 to score or assist anytime. The England international, 28, will almost certainly start and look to seize his opportunity to displace new recruit Christos Tzolis. Mikel Arteta used Eze in this competition last season, and he netted in this round against Port Vale. He now has a total of seven goal involvements in 14 League Cup appearances and should go well against an Ipswich side who’ve shipped 11 goals in five matches this term. Bet: Eberechi Eze to score or assist at 1/1 with bet365 Terms and conditions *PricedUp. 18+. New customers only.
