The makers of Ramayana released a birthday BTS glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. The new behind-the-scenes video isn’t just a showcase of the actor’s transformation. It pulls back the curtain on the preparation, training and responsibility that came with casting him as one of Indian mythology’s most revered figures.The footage features Ranbir speaking about taking on Lord Rama, while director Nitesh Tiwari explains why finding the right actor was so important for a story that millions have grown up with. For Ranbir, this wasn’t a role he could approach like any other.The actor says he saw it as a responsibility to do justice to the character and the faith people have in Rama. That sense of responsibility runs through the BTS glimpse. Rather than focusing only on the finished look, the video shows the work that went into getting Ranbir ready for the part.Arun Govil, who plays Dashrath, Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita, and Ravi Dubey, who plays Lakshman, also feature in the video. They speak about Ranbir and the qualities they believe make him right for Rama. There are also glimpses of the physical transformation and the making of key sequences, giving viewers a sense of how much preparation has gone into the film before it reaches the screen.Ranbir trained with an international stunt teamThe scale of that preparation goes beyond the Indian cast and crew. Producer Namit Malhotra has brought together talent from India and abroad for the two-part epic, including action director Terry Notary. Known for his work on large-scale international productions, Notary trained Ranbir for the film’s action sequences. The BTS footage offers glimpses of that process, with stunt and action professionals from around the world working on the film’s set pieces and characters. So while Ramayana is deeply rooted in Indian mythology, its making has involved a decidedly international team.Watch the glimpse here: The film is being mounted as a two-part epic, and will release worldwide in IMAX, with Ramayana: Part 1 scheduled for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 for Diwali 2027.
