Influencer Apoorva Mukhija moves to New York after Latent row. Here's why

Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, has revealed that she has moved to New York. The Lock Upp 2 contestant shared that she fell in love with the city during her travels.During a podcast, Untriggered By AminJaz, Apoorva said, “I am moving to New York in two days.” She added that by the time the episode was released, she would already be in the US.Explaining why she chose New York, Apoorva said she had travelled to the city several times and felt an instant connection with it. “I have travelled quite a lot and when I landed in New York I was like, ‘I really want to live here’,” she said.“There was something about this city. It was so fast, everyone is so well-dressed, the food is great. I love the architecture and I have seen New York in almost every single web series that I love,” she added. Apoorva also revealed that she applied to a college in New York to make her move possible and was accepted.She later shared the podcast episode on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Soo I don’t live in India anymore.” She added that being cancelled even for a few weeks can have a direct impact on her brand deals, which means a pause in her income. Apoorva admitted that this is the part she dislikes most about being cancelled, as she openly said she loves making money.Apoorva admitted that while moving to New York has been a dream, the decision also comes with a sense of fear. She said that her friends, career and everything familiar are in India, while she will be starting afresh in New York, living in a dorm and returning to student life. She also revealed that she will be pursuing an MBA there.The content creator said her decision to move abroad was partly motivated by a desire to meet new people and build a social circle beyond fellow content creators. She felt college would give her the opportunity to do that.Apoorva also joked that the “kaleshi aurat” is dead now, adding that she creates content because she understands what works and sells. However, she said she plans to be more selective about creating content in New York and may not be as consistent with her storytime videos, choosing to post when she genuinely feels like it.In February 2025, Ranveer Allahbadia faced widespread backlash over his remarks about parents and sex on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent.Apoorva was also part of the panel, and her confrontation with a contestant drew criticism on social media.
