The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) commissioned its indigenous Fast Patrol Vessel, ICGS Ajit, at Goa Shipyard Limited on October 9, 2026, marking a significant step towards strengthening India’s maritime security and self-reliance in defence production.The commissioning ceremony was presided over by Dr Sirish Choudhary, IDAS, Principal Integrated Financial Advisor (ICG).ICGS Ajit will be stationed at Okha and has been equipped with advanced weaponry and modern control systems. The vessel has been designed to undertake a range of operational roles, including maritime surveillance, search and rescue (SAR), anti-smuggling operations and marine pollution response. It also reflects the country’s focus on developing and deploying domestically built platforms for critical defence and maritime operations.
