Today, official data shows that promise has been kept: arrests for illegal crossings have plummeted by more than 93 percent since the peak of arrests under then-US President Joe Biden. Since Trump's re-election, more than 450 kilometres of additional border wall have been built on the southern border. Increased militarisation of the frontier, coupled with the threat of widespread ICE raids, have made the prospect of entering the US almost impossible. FRANCE 24's Wassim Cornet and Loïc Pialat report from California.
