Kit Green lashed out in tonight’s episode (Picture: ITV) Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) put his job at risk in tonight’s Coronation Street when he escalated a situation with violence. The detective was hit with a major shock earlier this week when he was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. He was told that he would need to undergo further tests to determine the best course of treatment, but that a mastectomy would be on the cards. In the aftermath of his diagnosis, Kit reluctantly confided in Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), but asserted that he didn’t want anyone else to know. Kit’s plan seems to be to keep things bottled up as long as possible, as when Todd approached him in the Rovers in tonight’s episode, he brushed off his concerns and walked away. However, he didn’t get very far before colliding with Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield), which caused him severe pain. As Kit clutched his chest in agony, Ross made a spiteful remark about how he was too ‘soft’ to be a cop, and Kit’s first instinct was to sucker punch Ross in the face. Ross Wilkes’ snide remark got to Kit (Picture: ITV) This caused a stir among the locals, and Ross announced that he would be reporting Kit as Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) dragged him out. Todd was quick to apologise for Kit’s actions, explaining that he was going through a lot, and even later visited Ross at home to try to mediate the situation. Fortunately, Ross told Todd that he had no plans to report Kit, and would be satisfied with Kit buying him a few beers. When Todd met Kit in the Rovers later that afternoon, Kit questioned why he was acting like his guardian angel, and Todd explained that he knew what it was like to deal with something difficult alone, after what he went through with Theo. He also confessed that he was worried that Kit had lashed out violently because he wanted to prove his masculinity, given his diagnosis. Kit is under a lot of pressure (Picture: ITV) However, Kit assured him that it was the cancer that had shaken him up, not the fact that it was breast cancer specifically, and the added pressure of Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) being in prison had led to him lashing out. He then told Todd he appreciated him talking Ross round and giving him one less thing to worry about – but little does he know, there is something else he will have to deal with… After being dragged home by Bethany, Kit initiated a discussion about their one night stand, unaware that Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) was hiding in the next room.
