IITs to inspect UP's big-ticket roads, bridges, sewerage projects above Rs 100 crore

Uttar Pradesh will have major infrastructure projects worth over Rs 100 crore audited by IIT Kanpur, IIT BHU and IIT Roorkee. According to a government order issued by Finance Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar on Friday, the institutes have been assigned specific divisions and projects, Hindustan Times reported.IIT Kanpur will conduct the third-party quality audit (TPQA) for districts under the Kanpur, Lucknow, Banda, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Agra, Jhansi and Devipatan divisions. The audit will cover projects valued at more than 100 crore.IITs ASSIGNED SPECIFIC DIVISIONSIIT BHU, Varanasi, will conduct audits for districts under the Basti, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Varanasi and Mirzapur divisions. IIT Roorkee will audit projects in districts under the Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Meerut and Aligarh divisions.The projects covered under the audit include water supply, sewerage and other public utility works. The Uttar Pradesh planning department had proposed the third-party audit, as reported by Hindustan Times. AUDIT TO COVER PROJECTS FROM START TO FINISHA third-party audit is an independent evaluation carried out by an external agency to check whether infrastructure projects are planned, designed and executed according to technical specifications, safety codes and environmental standards.The audit will involve inspections at different stages of a project, from its beginning to completion. A report will then be prepared based on the inspections and findings.
