Every shower to me is an everything shower – I love body butters, scrubs, oils, serums, mists, posh handwashes, you name it. However, when I add up the cost of my skincare, makeup and haircare routine, there’s often not much budget left for these types of products. That’s why, over my years as a beauty journalist, I’ve tried and tested hundreds of bodycare items and finally narrowed down my list of favourites, all under a tenner. You don’t need to spend big to splurge on your skin from the neck down; some of my long-time heroes are lotions that soothe my eczema flare-ups fast and feel luxurious, but cost me change from a fiver. Whether you’re after a brilliant scrub for fake tan prep, an unsexy but effective foot cream to tackle dry, cracked heels, or super-strength deodorant that treats excessive sweating, I’ve got you covered. It’s especially smart to fine-tune your bodycare routine as we head into winter, when skin can get drier and more irritable. But the products on your bathroom shelf can make all the difference, without making you wince when you get to the checkout. So, I’ve rounded up the bodycare products I rely on, each under £10. 10 under £10: The best affordable bodycare M&S Apothecary Calm Hand Wash While I love a posh hand wash, I just can’t justify spending upwards of £30 on a bottle that quite literally goes down the drain. However, I’m one of the biggest fans of M&S own-brand, Apothecary. My top product is this handwash that looks and feels expensive but doesn’t cost a fortune. Plus, you can buy 500ml refill pouches to top it up, which also cost just £10. Scented with lavender and sweet orange, it definitely gives Aesop a run for its money. Buy Now for £7 Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream for Face, Hand and Body There’s no better moisturiser for dry skin than Nivea Soft. It’s creamy but lightweight, absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave you feeling sticky. It’s not overpowering or too heavy and has a delicious, subtle scent – there’s nothing not to love. You can also find it in multiple sizes, so if you love it as much as I do, you can get a supersize 500ml or a travel-friendly 25ml pot, with most sizes coming in well under a tenner. Buy Now for £2 Superdrug Vitamin E Moisturising Body Lotion Spray Let’s be honest, moisturising our body is so much more work than our face, and often the step most missed in our routine. If you don’t have the time or energy to slather on body butters and cream before heading to work or bed, this lotion spray is a favourite. It’s a lightweight mist that barely needs rubbing in, and you can apply as much or as little as you like without any faff. It doesn’t have a strong scent, and the formula is full of skin-softening vitamins that will keep dryness at bay. I can’t get enough. Buy Now for £4.50 CCS Foot Care Cream This urea-based foot cream works wonders on dry, cracked heels, for a bargain price. What makes it so effective is a cocktail of ingredients hardworking enough to treat even the driest heels. It contains 10% urea, an excellent ingredient for retaining moisture, softening, and strengthening your skin barrier. It’s also blended with eucalyptus oil, which helps neutralise odour and keep your feet smelling fresh, along with glycerin and lactic acid. The texture feels like a rich cream, not dissimilar to many of the luxurious body moisturisers I love to use on the rest of my skin, but it's surprisingly fast-absorbing. When I’m working from home, I like to apply a thick layer to clean, dry feet, then wear a pair of clean socks to stop me from walking the cream all over my carpet and give it time to sink in. Within two days I can see a huge difference. Buy Now for £9 Mixa Urea Cica Repair Body Lotion Mixa is a brilliant French pharmacy brand that makes balms, creams and lotions for sensitive skin types like mine, and my favourite is this urea body lotion. It’s silky and lightweight, absorbs in seconds without any sticky residue and has a soft, subtle clean scent. The 400ml bottle lasts me months and is a soothing solution to my eczema without being a heavier balm that can get all over my bedsheets and pyjamas. Buy Now for £8.99 Q+A AHA Exfoliator Body Scrub If you love a manual scrub for smooth skin and fake tan prep, this Q+A is the perfect balance of gritty without being abrasive. It has a lovely vanilla and coconut scent, and a hardworking formula with lactic acid, glycolic acid, and upcycled corn in a creamy base that isn’t scratchy or hard to clean off the sides of your shower. It spreads easily over your limbs and rinses off even faster. Buy Now for £8 E45 Daily Moisturising Body Lotion for Dry & Sensitive Skin E45 is a brand that I rely on more than any other, and if you have eczema, you’ll know how good it is. But for the uninitiated, its lotion is ideal for sensitive skin, soothing dry patches without exacerbating eczema flare-ups. It’s not greasy, is safe for the whole family and is very reasonably priced. With daily use, this 400ml bottle would typically last me nearly five months. Buy Now for £8.99 Driclor Antiperspirant Roll On Applicator This is one of those unsexy products that makes a big difference. Designed to combat excessive sweating, it’s a medicated antiperspirant that forms a special gel matrix in your sweat glands to temporarily reduce sweat flow, so you can feel cool and dry. It’s a roll-on anyone can use; just be careful, as applying it after shaving can cause irritation. Apply it before bed to dry, clean skin, then wash it off in the morning. After about a fortnight, I saw a massive improvement, especially during London’s heatwave this summer and then used it once a week. It’s an affordable solution to a real problem. Buy Now for £8 BEAUTYPRO Foot and Callus Peel This foot peel is ideal to try in winter. The booties are dual-layered, so the outer layer stays dry for the full 90 minutes of wear, and there’s a lengthy list of do’s and don’ts that come with them: don’t use any foot creams for a minimum of seven days after, don’t wash feet with hot water, and of course, don’t use on broken skin. I tend to experience skin flaking off six days after – grim, but so satisfying. If you want to speed up the process, soak your feet in warm water first to soften the skin, and it will peel much faster. They do a great job at leaving skin soft and free from any hard skin build-up on heels and on the soles of your feet. Buy Now for £9 The Ritual of Karma Foaming Shower Gel Sometimes, all you need is a soapy, foaming shower gel to get some TLC into your shower routine. Rituals makes the best, in my opinion. Rich and creamy, and they lather well; they’re a treat to your skin and senses. The Ritual of Karma is scented with lotus flower and white tea, for a fresh and floral fragrance that wakes you up in the morning and is a relaxing blend before bed. Ideal for shaving your legs and underarms, it’s a self-indulgent treat that won’t break the bank.
