Huckabee blames ‘biblical illiteracy’ for declining US support for Israel

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said the declining public support for Israel in the United States was due to a lack of “biblical literacy”, disinformation and hostility toward people who believe in God. Huckabee told NewsNation in an interview Thursday that there were “three sources” behind what he called the erosion of support for Israel. He cited foreign propaganda and disinformation, hatred of people who believe “there is a God and that he’s made up the rules for life” and a lack of knowledge of the Bible. “You add all that together, I guess you just want to be mad at Israel and blame them for everything,” Huckabee said. Huckabee also dismissed claims that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and that it is an apartheid state, saying Americans would have a more favourable view of Israel if they would “look at the truth”.
