Hrithik Roshan likes post backing Katrina Kaif as she faces postpartum body-shaming

Actor Hrithik Roshan has liked a social media post defending actor Katrina Kaif after she faced body-shaming online following her appearance with husband Vicky Kaushal at the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai on September 14. Photos and videos from the event led to comments about her post-pregnancy weight, with some social media users drawing unkind comparisons.As the discussion around Katrina’s appearance grew, a post by Harshveer Jain, who goes by the handle storysellercomics, drew attention for calling out the comments. Hrithik, who has worked with Katrina in Bang Bang and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, did not comment publicly on the trolling, but his like on the post was seen as support for its message.Harshveer Jain’s Instagram post was shared in two slides. In the first, the creator wrote about admiring Katrina as a teenager and said, "I crushed on Katrina Kaif all my teenage. Travelled inter-state to catch a glimpse. Kept newspaper cutouts and movie posters, some even in my wallet. Watched movies because she was casted. And now when a troll says she’s finished because she put on post-pregnancy weight, I can only pity that troll (sic)."The second slide addressed younger social media users who might not understand why such remarks were being described as trolling. It read, "So if you are a teenager who is confused as to why are people calling you a troll for commenting on Katrina Kaif’s apparent weight gain, please note that — She is a mother. She has a successful business. Signs of a fairly successful life, personal and professional. Your commentary on her won’t affect her. You are a nobody for her. But women around you will look at that and immediately both, be hurt and also take you for a woman hater. Hopefully, you don’t want either (sic)." Hrithik’s like on the post came as several users compared Katrina’s current appearance with older photographs and focused on the weight she has gained after pregnancy.Earlier, Ali Zafar, her co-actor from the 2011 romantic comedy Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, had also spoken out against online body-shaming directed at the actor following her pregnancy. The debate erupted when an X user shared a video of Katrina from the Ambani Ganesh Chaturthi festivities and questioned why women “neglect their self-care post-pregnancy”. The post quickly drew criticism, with several users defending the actor and calling out the comments about her appearance.An X user, who is an author, hit back at the troll, saying, “What makes you think she is neglecting herself? She is Katrina effing Kaif and she looks gorgeous. A woman's body changes after pregnancy and with age. Why should a grown older woman look like a 20-year-old in her 40s and 50s? Why does she have to fit into your body and beauty standards (sic)?"Fans were quick to respond, pointing out that Katrina became a mother less than a year ago after welcoming her son Vihaan in November 2025. Many questioned why her body was being treated as something that needed to be explained or criticised. One user wrote, “She’s 43. She had a baby. Her body changed. That’s literally how biology works”. Another said the focus on her appearance ignored her work and personal life, writing, “Has a successful 400-crore business, a wonderful partner, a beautiful baby and an iconic film career. Do you have even half of that?”Katrina is not the first actor to face such scrutiny after becoming a mother. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan faced intense commentary about her body after the birth of her daughter Aaradhya in 2011 and continues to be trolled over her appearance.
