He finished his freshman campaign with 2,428 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Underwood also added 88 carries for 392 yards and six touchdowns. Michigan is looking to unleash its ground game, featuring Jordan Marshall and highly touted true freshman Savion Hiter. Marshall tallied 150 carries for 932 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 6.2 yards per carry last season. The Wolverines are 37-1 all-time against MAC opponents and 8-0 against Western Michigan. Western Michigan owns a run-heavy offense that will be the perfect warmup for Michigan’s defense under first-year coordinator Jay Hill. Broc Lowry, reigning MAC Player of the Year, rushed for nearly 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns, adding to his 1,802 passing yards and nine touchdowns. Jalen Buckley and former Michigan running back Cole Cabana also bolster their go-to ground game. Buckley bludgeoned through for 179 carries, 1,003 yards and nine touchdowns, while averaging 5.6 yards per carry last season. On the defensive side, Western Michigan allowed 125 yards rushing per game last season. They were gashed by a mediocre Michigan State for 237 yards.
