While having fun and building the zoo of your dreams is important in Planet Zoo 2, your ultimate in-game goal with each new zoo is to earn a 5-star reputation. Your reputation is always visible at the bottom of your screen, and changing it isn't as simple as adding a bunch of new animals and increasing ticket prices. Your zoo's reputation is based on four unique factors you'll need to excel in to bring the overall rating up to five stars. The four different areas are Animal Husbandry, Sustainability, Guest Education, and Guest Experience. What Is Animal Husbandry, And How Do You Improve It? Animal Husbandry, for those unfamiliar, revolves around the care of captive animals. This means that your animals need to be fed, happy, healthy, in habitats that meet their specific requirements, breeding, and ideally, thriving. You can view an animal's needs at any point by selecting the habitat itself or one of the animals in it to see what areas need improvement, if any. Naturally, this isn't as simple as it seems. While it is easy enough to ensure a habitat meets the minimum requirements to keep an animal satisfied, which increases their welfare, you'll need to send vets to research each species and discover the requirements that will help it thrive. Research can only be completed by vets in a Research Center, and each level of a species will generally unlock a new thriving requirement. So, you'll need to repeat this process with every species currently in your zoo and complete any unmet requirements to increase your Animal Husbandry rating. Some thriving requirements will also involve researching other categories. For example, one of the Western Chimpanzee's thriving requirements is food enrichment items focused on dexterity, which is its own research category under Enrichment. What Is Sustainability, And How Do You Improve It? Sustainability is probably the easiest factor impacting your overall zoo reputation, mostly because it doesn't have multiple requirements that involve several steps, like the others. Sustainability is, to put it simply, employing the reduce, reuse, recycle mentality towards your zoo. This can be done by placing plenty of recycling bins around the park and upgrading your power supply to solar power and wind turbines. Recycling bins are fairly cheap, so this is a good way to start. Solar power panels and wind turbines have a much higher up-front cost than a traditional generator, so they may not be feasible right away, but upgrading as you go is an easy way to increase this rating while you work on other things. What Is Guest Education, And How Do You Improve It? Guest education is exactly what it sounds like. You want not only those who visit your zoo to enjoy their time, but also to learn about these animals, most of whom are endangered. Once again, there are ways to start increasing guest education, such as signs and conservation boards, but you'll also want to do some research and hire staff, specifically educators, to help out. One of the research categories is education, so it's best to get a vet focused on that area of research as soon as you can. Additionally, you'll want to hire educators for the park and maybe even place talking points with stage seating for guests to learn even more about the animals at your zoo. This rating won't skyrocket immediately when you do all this, but keep steadily increasing the educational materials around your zoo, and you should see this begin to rise over time. What Is Guest Experience, And How Do You Improve It? The last factor affecting your overall reputation is, of course, the guest experience. Unlike education, this focuses on how guests feel when they're at your zoo. For this, some questions you'll want to consider are: Are there enough bathrooms? Are there enough food/beverage spots? Are ticket prices reasonable? Are there enough animals and are they happy? Is it clean? Are there enough trash cans? Do you have enough staff to handle everything? What else can my zoo offer that it doesn't already? The easiest way to see where you might be lacking is to look at the management tab and read the common complaints guests have about aspects of your zoo. You can even click on individual guests to read comments directly. Once you know where your problem areas are, you can begin slowly fixing them as you're able. If it doesn't seem like there is a specific problem, then focus on adding to your zoo to give your guests more features to enjoy. Keep in mind that even if you're doing everything right, it still takes time for a rating to increase. Just keep focusing on all of these things as you build your zoo, and you'll get that fifth star!
