How Sydney Sweeney survived MAGA storm, box office flops and THAT American Eagle ad

SYDNEY Sweeney has survived a MAGA storm, box office flops and THAT American Eagle ad – and it’s all down to her own business acumen. That’s the opinion of our showbiz expert and Sydney fan, Bronte Coy, who has followed the actress’ astonishing career. Sydney has come along way since the days she made a Powerpoint presentation to convince her parents to allow her acting dream. A turning point was Glen Powell romcom, Anyone But You. Showbiz Fix host Felicity Cross said: “One of the contradictions with Sydney, for example, is Anyone But You which is a cut-and-dried rom-com. “They even did the showmance – her and Glenn Powell – to promote the film, but she’s also an exec producer. “So there you’ve got that balance of how she’s in control of the marketing of that film. She knows what she’s doing and it worked, didn’t it?” Bronte Coy said: “It absolutely worked. On paper this film really be as enormous as it’s become. “Everyone was talking about it. I was in Australia at the time and of course it became ‘will they, won’t they’ get together? Are they together? “ We’re seeing pictures of them out everywhere. “There was a lot of buzz about this movie because of those two and the way they were playing it. “Now that we’ve gone a few years on you can actually unpack how this became such an enormous box-office smash. “There is so many elements to it and Sydney Sweeney is at the heart of it. “So it’s not just her acting performance, she’s a savvy businesswoman. “She diversified to become an executive producer on this film and so she was in control. “They were saying she was on set all day, every day and was a part of every conversation. “And then later Glenn Powell said she was the mastermind behind this sort of showmance – which I hate – but I gotta say it works.” Sydney has survived a Maga storm, box office flops and an American Eagle ad – and it’s all down to her own business acumen. Credit: The film, which starred Sydney and Glenn as two singles who were brought back together years after a one night stand at a family wedding, also caught on with Gen Z, a rare feat in the modern day. That was down to another of Sydney’s decisions. Bronte said: “There was also putting in the Natasha Bedingfield song, Unwritten, which was 20 years old but instantly that became a social media massive hit again because it’s included in a pivotal scene of Anyone But You. “There’s something like three billion social media clips related to the Anyone But You hashtag. “But it’s part of this overall package, with Sydney Sweeney being at the centre of it.” You can watch this week’s Showbiz Fix: Uncut for all things Sydney on The Sun’s Showbiz Fix hub or The Sun’s Showbiz YouTube.
