Glastonbury tickets are the most expensive in history, and many fans are outraged (Picture: Joseph Okpako/WireImage) Glastonbury is finally returning after its fallow year – but anyone hoping to make the pilgrimage to Worthy Farm might want to have a frank conversation with their bank account first. Tickets for the 2027 festival will cost £408 including a £5 booking fee, marking the first time general admission has broken the £400 barrier. That is a £29.50 increase from 2025, when tickets cost £378.50, and unsurprisingly the latest price hike has already sparked plenty of debate. Some fans have branded the cost ‘ridiculous’ and a ‘complete scam’, while others argue that five days at one of the biggest music festivals in the world still represents surprisingly good value compared with the soaring cost of individual concerts. It’s the festival’s highest price ever and represents an increase of almost 8% from the £378.50 charged for the 2025 edition. Fans have been particularly struck by just how dramatically prices have changed over the decades, with one pointing out on X that a ticket cost just £87 in 2000. I think £408 is fair for five days of massive acts,’ one person argued. Another called it an ‘absolute bargain’ given the sheer number of performances and other attractions included over the five days. For one prospective festival-goer, however, there was only one way to justify the bill: ‘Oasis better be playing for that ticket price.’ Despite the price, demand is unlikely to be lacking when the annual ticket bloodbath begins. When do Glastonbury 2027 tickets go on sale? General admission tickets go on sale at 9am on Sunday, October 4. Those willing to travel to Worthy Farm by coach got an earlier opportunity, with coach-and-ticket packages, which became available to buy on Thursday, October 1. They all sold out within the first 30 minutes. It’s unlikely ticket demand will drop despite the high prices (Picture: Oli SCARFF / AFP) What is the new booking system? When fans logged on to the site on Thursday, ticket buyers found that they were asked to enter their registration number first – instead of the previous system, where they got through the queue and then had to enter their registration number to complete the purchase. This new method gives buyers a unique place in the queue, and means that trying to use the same registration number on different devices and browsers does not give you a different place in the queue (a tactic many have employed in the past). While the new change has been designed to make the ticket purchasing more democratic, it has made some Glasto fans a little nervous about the impending ticket sales on Sunday. Previously, many would have gathered their pals into a ‘syndicate’ group to try and divide and conquer the ticket queues, but now the new system doesn’t allow that. ‘If you’ve put in that effort into arranging a syndicate, researching all the tricks and things about VPNs and IP addresses, you feel like you deserve a better chance,’ one fan told The Independent. ‘Now this change minimises all that, but it has made it more fair, and I’m not against it at all. I do think it’s interesting that [Glastonbury] didn’t say they were making the change until yesterday.’ Others were quick to take to social media to express their concerns with the new system. For Glastonbury sale on Sunday, be very careful not to queue in two devices at the same time. Now the system ask for your registration number BEFORE you can join the queue and then if you queue twice the queue ID is THE SAME. No matter if you are on a vpn or data besides wifi.’ Do you have to pay £408 for Glastonbury immediately? Thankfully for anyone who doesn’t have £408 casually rattling around in their current account, tickets can be secured with a £100 deposit. The remaining balance will then need to be paid during the first week of April. Children aged 12 and under can attend for free. Do I need to register for Glastonbury tickets? Yes. Anyone hoping to buy a ticket needs to be registered with Glastonbury beforehand. Speculation has already started to swirl about who will headline the iconic festival (Picture: Leon Neal/Getty Images) The deadline to register was 5pm BST on Friday, September 25, so you will need to have already registered to be in with a chance of purchasing tickets tomorrow. When is Glastonbury 2027? Glastonbury 2027 will take place at Worthy Farm from June 23 to June 27. The festival is returning after taking 2026 off as a scheduled fallow year. The breaks allow the farm, surrounding land and local community some respite from welcoming hundreds of thousands of festival-goers. Who is headlining Glastonbury 2027? The three Pyramid Stage headliners haven’t yet been announced, although that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from going into overdrive. Harry Styles has been heavily tipped for a Worthy Farm appearance, while Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Rihanna, Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Little Simz, Radiohead, Fontaines D.C., Muse, Rod Stewart and The Rolling Stones have all been linked to the festival. Emily Eavis has at least eliminated a couple of very big names from the guessing game. Addressing speculation surrounding Madonna, the organiser said: ‘No, it’s definitely not Madonna, I’ll tell you that.’ Eavis has also ruled out the chance of Oasis headlining, with Liam and Noel Gallagher back out on tour in 2027. 2025 headliners included The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo (Picture: Joseph Okpako/WireImage) She did, however, confirm that all three headline acts are taking shape, adding: ‘We have got three [other] headliners and we’re very excited about it – it’s all coming together really well.’ The 2025 festival was headlined by The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo, while the sprawling line-up also featured Charli XCX, Wolf Alice, Rod Stewart, Doechii and Kneecap. There were also surprise performances from Pulp, Skepta and Haim. So while £408 may initially produce a fairly violent reaction from your bank balance, plenty of Glastonbury devotees are already arguing that when compared with paying upwards of £100 to see a single major artist, five days at Worthy Farm still stacks up.
