FAR ABOVE DREAM (3.40 Ayr, nap) Can grab the Ayr Gold Cup after an agonising second at York last time. James Owen’s progressive four-year-old came home with a real rattle in that red-hot 20-runner sprint but the line came a stride too soon. That was another huge run in a season where he has done little wrong. SILENT BEAUTY (3.05 Ayr, nb) Can make a big noise. Kevin Philippart de Foy’s youngster bounced back to form at Ripon last time, powering three lengths clear in Listed company over this trip. That was much more like the filly who had bolted up on debut at Yarmouth and her Royal Ascot flop in the Albany now looks easier to forgive. She handles cut in the ground and looks open to plenty of improvement. ICE MAX (1.55 Ayr, treble) Looks set to make his return from a break count on ideal ground. Karl Burke’s five-year-old has been off since June but soft looks a major plus and he has shown he is good enough to win at this level. He landed a Listed race in the mud at Nottingham last autumn and produced two strong efforts in the spring, finishing third in a Group 2 at Chester before going close in Listed company at Goodwood. His latest fourth at Epsom can also be marked up after he met trouble in running twice. Templegate’s TV verdicts (ITV4, 1.15pm-4.00pm) AYR Most read in Horse Racing 1.20 THAT’S AMORE looks a big price to bounce back after a break with Oisin Murphy taking over. Ralph Beckett’s filly has been off since June and returns with her sights lowered, dropping from a mile and a half to a mile after two runs in Listed company. Those efforts were disappointing but she had looked promising when winning an 11-furlong Southwell novice on her seasonal return and this lightly-raced four-year-old is still open to improvement. Soft ground holds no fears after her six-length debut win on heavy at Newbury. Spoken Truth is an obvious danger after finally getting his head in front at Ripon. He tanked along before quickening clear to score nicely. Soft suits and a 5lb rise gives him a chance. McMurray is chasing a five-timer and returns from a break after landing a competitive Chester handicap in May. He has been gelded since and remains open to more progress provided he likes the ground. Hawksbill ran well at York and is another to consider. 1.55 ICE MAX can make his return from a break count on ideal ground. He was impressive on good to soft at Epsom last season and has a good record fresh. Fast Tracker returned to form when third in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood and is another proven mudlark, so more rain would help. Grey Cuban made an excellent comeback when second at Chester last weekend but there’s a chance he’ll bounce on this second quick start. 2.30 TOYOTOMI deserves to get the gaps this time after a nightmare at The Curragh last weekend. David O’Meara’s sprinter was still cruising a furlong out in a red-hot handicap but never got the breaks, eventually finishing 10th without being knocked about. Soft ground suits and Oisin Murphy takes over. Desert Falcon was runner-up in last year’s Gold Cup here and warmed up with a solid sixth in the Portland at Doncaster, while Deep Havana returned from 17 months off to land a huge Thirsk handicap and could have plenty more to offer. Trilby loves the mud and arrives in cracking form after winning at Beverley and chasing home Poatan at Haydock. He has an each-way chance. Havana Blue is chasing a hat-trick after victories at Newmarket and Ascot and remains dangerous despite another 5lb rise. Rapper’s Delight has not had much luck with the draw lately and first-time blinkers could sharpen him up, while Lord Roxby is better than his latest Thirsk run suggests and he should be well drawn. Goldmoyne has been running consistently in strong handicaps and has a handy low draw, while Station X is another who could bounce back after a rare poor effort in the Portland at Doncaster last time. Uncle Don doesn’t win very often but ran a nice race when just over a length off the pace at Windsor last time. He’s a risky win bet but it wouldn’t be a shock to see him make the frame. 3.05 SILENT BEAUTY can make a big noise. Richard Hannon’s filly was only edged out late, confirming the promise of her fourth in the Albany. Ruby Moon has already shown she belongs at this level, finishing fourth in a Group 2 at Newmarket. The worry is her poor effort on soft ground last time. Etonnante comes here after making all to win comfortably on heavy at Haydock after a wind up so conditions should suit. Starburster took a step forward to win at Newbury and that form has already received a boost, while Angel In My Heart finished strongly when second in a Doncaster nursery nine days ago. Nour remains unexposed after landing a Southwell nursery and could have more to offer but this is much hotter company. 3.40 FAR ABOVE DREAM can grab the Ayr Gold Cup after an agonising second at York last time. Twilight Calls is flying and looks the big threat, although stall 19 is a bit of a negative. The veteran has been transformed by a visor, winning at Newmarket and Goodwood before nearly completing the hat-trick in last week’s Portland at Doncaster, where he was caught late after hitting the front plenty soon enough. Binhareer has landed the plum draw in stall two and should be right therew. He is a course-and-distance winner, handles soft ground and his neck second in a huge York handicap in May reads very well. Conditions have not really fallen his way since which means his mark still looks fair. Dance In The Storm was only just over a length behind Far Above Dream at York and remains unexposed over six furlongs. He handles some cut and trainer Andrew Balding has been hoovering up big races this season. Stratusnine is another battle-hardened big-field performer, having gone desperately close in the Stewards’ Cup before running another cracker at York. He looks a big price with his rider taking off a handy 5lb. Ardisia loves cut in the ground and chased home Flash Harry at Goodwood last time and they both have an each-way chance, especially if there’s more rain. Tuco Salamanca showed good heart to win at Ascot but a 6lb rise makes life tougher. Fine Interview kicked off the season with a good win over this trip at Doncaster on soft ground and showed good signs at York. He’s nice and fresh compared to some of the others but has stall 25 as a negative. He could still make his presence felt under James Doyle. NEWBURY 1.02 STARLUST has been mixing it with the best and can shine down in grade. Ralph Beckett’s five-year-old showed he still has plenty of speed when chasing home Bacio in the Nunthorpe at York, then backed that up with another big effort when fourth in the Flying Five at the Curragh last weekend. The former Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint winner goes on any ground and should be too good. Redorange won a Listed sprint at York in July and ran a decent race in the Nunthorpe where he met trouble before staying on again. Diligent Harry has plenty of class and Ryan Moore takes over but he was below par at Newcastle last time and returns from nearly three months off with a bit to prove. Naana’s Sparkle is improving fast and bolted up on heavy ground at Goodwood last month, although this demands another step forward out of handicap company. Dickensian returned to form with a strong third over 6f at York and is well drawn. 1.37 INSANITY has had a little nudge down the weights despite a decent effort at Ascot last time. That was just his third start of the season and he looks the type to enjoy this longer trip for in-form trainer Alan King. French Duke went down in a photo at York last month and the winner has taken a Listed race since. He didn’t get the clearest of runs so that effort is all the better. Primo Lara has won three of this past four and the booking of Ryan Moore takes the eye. He sees out 1m4f strongly and this extra furlong should be fine. Pearl River ran well at York over 1m2f latest but he should appreciate going up in distance. He looks on a fair handicap mark. Roaring Legend came back to his best at Newmarket last time out in July and has an each-way chance. 2.12 ARAPAHO GOLD can keep his unbeaten record intact and make it five from five in the Mill Reef. Michael Dods’ youngster goes from strength to strength, rattling off wins at Thirsk, Newbury and York and his latest Gimcrack success showed he has the class and attitude for this level. He didn’t get an ideal run at York but found the gap, hit the front and kept finding. That was a proper Group 2 performance and he sets the standard despite carrying a penalty. Jolivette ran a career-best third in the Lowther at York, where she travelled strongly before finishing off well. Nabati is another danger and has already pushed Arapaho Gold close, going down by just a neck in a Listed race over course and distance in July. He has since won at Newmarket and ran a solid third over seven furlongs at Doncaster last week. Adaay Of Scarlett has plenty of smart form, including seconds at Royal Ascot and Goodwood, but has disappointed on his last two starts. Cut A Dash looked useful earlier in the season when fourth in the Coventry Stakes but has gone backwards a little. 2.47 BOYFRIEND was one of the unluckiest horses you’ll ever see when beaten less than a length at Salisbury last time out. Richard Hannon’s five-year-old travelled strongly but had more doors slammed in his face than a bailiff on Christmas Eve, only getting daylight late before flying home into third. He had already been knocking hard on the door, finishing second at Goodwood and third over this trip at Sandown and the return to 1m2f looks a big plus. Stem can go well after another strong run at Sandown, where he was beaten less than a length into third. He has taken well to more positive tactics and should be right there again. Almekarem is chasing a hat-trick after sweeping from last to first at Doncaster eight days ago, winning with plenty in hand. This is tougher but that was an impressive effort. Gonna Fly also comes into it after a much better effort when fourth at Sandown, while Capall Rasa caught the eye when fifth in a huge Royal Ascot handicap and could improve on debut for Edward Bethell after a break.
