Homicide investigation launched after woman found dead in Wellington

Police have launched a homicide investigation after the death of a woman in Newlands this morning.Detective Inspector Haley Ryan said police are currently speaking with a man, who is assisting with enquiries.She said emergency services were called to Gahagan Way around 4am where the woman was found dead inside a property.A scene guard is in place and there is not believed to be any risk to the public, she said."As part of our enquiries, we'd like to speak with anyone who has any information, or witnessed any suspicious activity in the area overnight."Additionally, we're interested in any CCTV or dashcam footage from Gahagan Way, or surrounding streets, including Newlands Road and Stewart Drive, between 12pm Friday and 5am today."Anyone with information is urged to contact police via 105, either over the phone or online at 105.police.govt.nz, referencing the file number 260919/1067.
