Holdout juror in Lindsay Clancy trial taken to ‘secure location’ after deliberations details made public

The holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial has been taken to a “secure location,” his attorney announced Thursday, after other members of the jury in the high-profile case alleged the lone juror had doubts the mother of three was sane when killing her children.Michael Desronvil was the holdout juror in the Massachusetts trial, which ultimately ended in a mistrial after the jury was unable to make a unanimous decision. Several other members of the jury have since come forward with accusations that Desronvil had admitted to having doubt, but refused to agree to a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict.Desronvil’s attorney, Edward Andrew Paltzik, confirmed he was representing the juror, calling him an “American Hero and Champion of Justice.” In a lengthy post defending his client as a religious individual, Paltzik said Desronvil is “safe and sound at an undisclosed secure location.” “This American Hero and Champion of Justice loves the United States of America as the greatest country in the world; cherishes our sacred Constitution as the pinnacle of human liberty; and supports our amazing leader, President Donald J. Trump, as a fellow defender of common-sense, liberty, and sanity,” Paltzik said. “Rest assured that the evil people who have so viciously attacked this American Hero and Champion of Justice will be held accountable to the maximum extent of the law and beyond.”“In the meantime, though, he has persevered and remains utterly unbroken thanks to his devout Catholic Faith,” the post continued. “As a devoted father and man of God, he will not be defeated or shattered by the wicked who wish harm upon him. He is presently safe and sound at an undisclosed secure location in a rural area of Northern New England.”Desronvil has disputed the claims from other jurors that he had doubts, saying the evidence presented at trial made clear to him that Clancy had willfully murdered her children, according to a statement obtained by CBS News. He also said the characterization that he was “unable to engage” was untrue, as described by juror Kellie Farina.“As I tried to explain different possible theories during deliberation, I kept getting cut off as if I had doubts based on the evidence present,” the statement said. The 12-member jury, composed of nine women and three men, spent seven days deliberating over whether Clancy was criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children.WHAT HAPPENS NEXT AFTER MISTRIAL IN LINDSAY CLANCY MURDER CASEClancy had admitted to killing her three children but pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Her defense argued that she was experiencing severe psychosis when she killed her young children in 2023.Since the trial ended, Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, has filed a motion requesting the judge submit a not guilty verdict. Reddington argued that the commonwealth and defense’s expert witnesses agreed that Clancy suffered from a severe mental illness and that the prosecution did not prove Clancy had the capacity to know what she was doing was wrong. Clancy is due back in court on Sept. 29, when the next step in her trial will be determined.
