The new HOKA Arahi 9 comes with an updated support system and a redesigned upper built to give runners more stability without the stiff, bulky feel traditionally associated with stability shoes. The men’s and women’s HOKA Arahi 9 retails for $155 and is designed for both everyday running and walking. The shoe is great for runners who overpronate, meaning the foot rolls inward during a stride and may benefit from additional support.HOKA Arahi 9 - women'sThe new HOKA Arahi 9 is a cushioned stability running shoe designed for everyday running and walking.Buy NowHOKA Arahi 9 - men'sThe new HOKA Arahi 9 is a cushioned stability running shoe designed for everyday running and walking.Buy NowOne of the biggest features of the Arahi 9 is HOKA’s enhanced H-Frame technology designed to stabilize the foot and help manage overpronation while still allowing for a smooth transition through each step. It also features a dual-density compression-molded EVA foam midsole for a cushioned ride. The Arahi 9 also received a newly engineered mesh upper with a tighter construction along the medial, or inner, side of the foot. That extra structure is intended to provide more support where overpronators need it without making the entire upper feel restrictive. Haptic prints and 3D silicone details add additional structure, while reflective elements provide some added visibility for early-morning or evening runs.Underneath, HOKA uses super-abrasion rubber in the outsole for durability, along with a podular outsole design intended to keep transitions controlled and smooth. The shoe has an 8mm heel-to-toe drop, while listed weights are approximately 10 ounces for the men’s version and 8.2 ounces for the women’s version. The Arahi 9 isn’t an entirely different shoe from its predecessor. HOKA still to use the dual-density EVA platform found in the Arahi 8, but the new version puts greater emphasis on how the upper works with the H-Frame to secure the foot. This is perfect for runners who like the cushioning and stability of the previous generation, but want a more structured fit around the inside of the foot.Although HOKA categorizes the Arahi 9 as a stability shoe, it isn’t limited to running. The brand also recommends it for walking, making it an option for anyone who wants additional support for daily miles or long periods spent on their feet.Is the HOKA Arahi 9 a good stability shoe? The HOKA Arahi 9 is a stability running shoe designed to provide additional support without relying on the heavy or rigid construction sometimes associated with stability shoes. Its enhanced H-Frame technology helps guide the foot through each stride, while the dual-density EVA midsole provides cushioning for everyday runs, walks and longer periods on your feet. This makes the Arahi 9 particularly well suited to overpronation, which occurs when the foot rolls too far inward as it lands. Stability shoes are designed to help control that excess inward movement, and the Arahi 9 adds support along the medial side of the foot to do exactly that.Supination is different. A runner who supinates, sometimes called underpronation, tends to roll toward the outside of the foot rather than excessively inward. Because the Arahi 9 is designed to manage overpronation, it generally isn’t the first HOKA to consider for someone who supinates. A cushioned neutral running shoe such as the HOKA Clifton may be a more appropriate starting point for runners who underpronate, although individual gait, foot shape and comfort should also factor into choosing a shoe.Is the HOKA Arahi 9 a neutral running shoe? No, the HOKA Arahi 9 is not a neutral running shoe. It’s a stability shoe designed for runners and walkers who want additional guidance and support, particularly those who overpronate. That’s an important distinction when comparing the Arahi 9 with some of HOKA’s other everyday shoes. A neutral running shoe is generally designed to let the foot move through its natural gait without added stability features intended to correct excessive inward movement. The Arahi 9’s H-Frame provides that additional guidance while still aiming to preserve the cushioned, relatively smooth ride many runners expect from HOKA.Runners with a neutral gait don’t necessarily need that extra stability. For those shoppers, a neutral daily trainer such as the HOKA Clifton may make more sense. But for runners who like HOKA’s cushioning and want more support to help manage overpronation, the Arahi 9 fills that role in the brand’s lineup.Le Creuset is offering an insane deal on its oval Dutch ovenSonos Ace Ultra headphones are here with a major audio upgradeWHOOP’s Meridian bands make its fitness tracker look like jewelryStanley’s Día de Muertos collection features original papel picado artDyson’s robot vacuum and mop is $350 off this weekJosie Howell is a commerce and news writer for AL.com where she primarily focuses on shopping and streaming content.
