2 min readHenry Winkler taught the Happy Days crew how to be cool. Then, he instructed Barry Berkman how to act on Barry. Now? The 80-year-old actor wants to live the ranch life and join a Taylor Sheridan series. Is Dutton Ranch hiring?“I would leave here right now and go and get on that horse,” Winkler told a reporter from PauseRewind who asked if he was a fan of Sheridan’s work. He appeared on the red carpet for a Television Academy event in Los Angeles this week, where he also hosted an acting workshop. “I used to be able to ride a horse,” Winkler added, though he admitted, “I don't know if my thighs would survive.”I’m not so sure horses (or moving vehicles of any kind) are in Winkler’s best interest anyway. One of my favorite Winkler stories hails from his time on Happy Days, when he famously rode a motorcycle on set for the first and only time. “I can’t ride a motorcycle,” he told The Television Academy in 2006. “So, on one of the first days on set [for Happy Days] they said, ‘Look, you just have to go five feet. We’re inside.’”“So I, being dyslexic, had no idea [how to operate the motorcycle],” he continued. “I turn it and I gunned it and rammed into the sound truck, nearly killed the director of photography, put the bike down, slid under the truck, and then they said, ‘We’re never going to let you do that again.’ So for the next ten years they put me on a board on wheels and pulled me. I’ve never ridden a motorcycle again in my life.”Maybe Winkler is just more on The Madison’s speed. Either that, or Sheridan can hook him up with a nice pool like Sam Elliott in Landman. Just keep the Fonz away from the motorcycles please.
