Published Oct 9, 2026, 4:09 PM EDT EXCLUSIVE: Helluva Boss season 3 will take the adult animated series into even raunchier and more emotional territory. Created by Vivienne Medrano, Helluva Boss follows the employees of I.M.P., a Hell-based assassination business led by Blitzo (Brandon Rogers). After originally debuting independently on YouTube, the series expanded to Prime Video, bringing its first two seasons and additional episodes to the streaming service. Season 3 will continue the stories of Blitzo, Stolas, Moxxie, Millie, Loona, and the show's growing ensemble as their relationships and personal struggles grow increasingly complicated. In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley at NYCC, Medrano, Rogers, and Erica Lindbeck teased what audiences can expect when Helluva Boss returns. While Rogers jokingly promised "more holes," Medrano revealed that season 3 may include the raunchiest scene of either of her Hellaverse shows. Brandon Rogers: "Not more souls, but more holes. Let me tell you, this is a hot season! People are getting filled and killed." Vivienne Medrano: "It has probably our raunchiest scene in either show to date. It doesn't cross the line, in my opinion, but it goes right up to it. Tastefully!" Erica Lindbeck: "I think your bar's high, Viv." Medrano: "It might be high, I don't know. It's gotten mixed reactions. That's the thing I'm most excited about, because I have seen the spectrum of responses to it. So, we'll see what people think of it!" Considering neither Helluva Boss nor Hazbin Hotel has shied away from mature material, it will be particularly interesting to see how season 3 pushes those boundaries even further. Both shows have established their identities through adult humor, violence, and complicated relationships, setting a high bar for Medrano with her latest tease. This also isn't the first time an upcoming Helluva Boss episode has been teased as an important step forward for the series. Ahead of the show's move to Prime Video, Medrano teased the special episode "Mission Zero" as an opportunity to "go back to the start" and offer a more refined introduction to the characters. Morgana Ignis and Richard Steven Horvitz later described "Mission Zero" as a "pilot redo" that better reflected what Helluva Boss had become, making the show's continued evolution in season 3 all the more notable. However, pushing those boundaries isn't the only way Helluva Boss season 3 is evolving. Medrano also described the upcoming installment as "more raw" than its predecessors, saying the creative team found its footing toward the end of season 2. Medrano: "But, to Brandon's point, this scene, this season gets to go places. It's not just raunchier, but it just gets more raw than any seasons past. I'm excited for that because I feel like this is the season we really locked in. Near the end of season 2, we really felt good about where we were going and what we were doing. But season 3? From a visual standpoint and from a storytelling narrative script standpoint, I really feel really proud of it. I'm just excited for people to see it. I feel like it leveled up." That progression makes sense after everything the series has established throughout its first two seasons. Although Helluva Boss began with the comedic premise of Blitzo and his employees traveling to Earth to kill human targets, the show has gradually placed more emphasis on the characters behind I.M.P. and the relationships surrounding them. That evolution shows up in some of the show's best Helluva Boss episodes, which increasingly center on the characters' personal lives and relationships. Higheror Lower? Choose the movie with the higher Rotten Tomatoes score. Blitzo and Stolas' increasingly complicated dynamic has become one of the show's most significant storylines, particularly after the events of the Helluva Boss season 2 ending. Meanwhile, characters including Moxxie, Millie, and Loona have been given opportunities to move beyond their initial roles within the group. Season 3 now benefits from a story where viewers already understand these characters and their histories, leaving room to explore them more deeply. Rogers compared this stage of Helluva Boss to reaching "the middle of a good book," where the groundwork is already laid, and the story can introduce greater complications. Rogers: "Yeah, it's like the middle of a good book. It's where the meat is of all these characters. You're starting to get more complexity, more expansion, and more problems. We feel like the fans know enough now that we can take them to deeper places on all of these journeys. I'm so excited for the fanbase to get to dig into this world and see and learn things about all of our characters that none of us knew before season 3." Ultimately, the promise of a "more raw" season could prove more significant than its raunchier material. Some of Helluva Boss' biggest moments come when the series moves beyond outrageous comedy to examine the insecurities, mistakes, and relationships that drive its characters. Allowing those storylines to become more complicated could naturally raise the emotional stakes of season 3. The series is also entering this chapter with a much larger platform alongside Medrano's Hazbin Hotel. Although the two shows follow separate characters and stories, they exist within the same Hellaverse and have continued to expand that shared world. Medranosays Helluva Boss has "leveled up" visually and narratively, suggesting that growth will show on screen. Meanwhile, Rogers' promise that viewers will learn things about the characters "that none of us knew before season 3" indicates the upcoming episodes will reveal more than simply new I.M.P. adventures. Exactly what Medrano's potentially divisive scene involves remains under wraps, but the fact that it has already received a spectrum of reactions makes it one of season 3's most intriguing teases.
