Heavy rainfall forecast in parts of Luzon, Visayas until Thursday

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Luzon and the Visayas through Thursday, Sept. 10, as the southwest monsoon or “habagat” continues to hound the country, the state weather bureau said Monday. In its 5 p.m. weather advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said 100 to 200 millimeters (mm) of rain is expected in Zambales from Monday to Tuesday afternoon. The same rainfall range is forecast over Occidental Mindoro from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon, Sept. 10, Pagasa said. Article continues after this advertisement Pagasa said numerous flooding events are likely, particularly in urbanized, low-lying and riverside areas, while landslides are likely in areas with moderate to high susceptibility. Meanwhile, 50 to 100 mm of rain is expected from Monday to Tuesday afternoon in: Pangasinan Tarlac Pampanga Bataan Cavite Batangas Occidental Mindoro Antique The same rainfall volume is forecast from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon in Isabela, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro.
