HBO's Harry Potter Officially Casts Key 'Chamber of Secrets' Role for Season 2

As such, more and more roles are being cast for season 2, which will introduce new characters from the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Recently, Tom Riddle and Ginny Weasley were cast (or, in Ginny's case, recast). On Tuesday, three more actors joined the cast: Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley, Jasper Ambrose as Colin Creevey, and Molly Hewitt-Richards as Moaning Myrtle. The elder Weasley plays a supporting role; he's the father of Ginny, Ron, and the other Weasley kids. You might know Spall from Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, or Apple TV's Trying. Arthur Weasley was portrayed by Mark Williams in the Harry Potter films. Colin Creevey is a student at Hogwarts and something of a Harry Potter fanboy. Ambrose doesn't have many acting credits to his name, but he did voice a sheep in this year's The Sheep Detectives. Creevey was played by Hugh Mitchell in the movies. Molly Hewitt-Richards as Moaning Myrtle is the most notable of the new crop of additions. Moaning Myrtle plays a key role in the second book, Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets. She was killed by the Serpent of Slytherin, a Basilisk, in the 1940s, and has since haunted the bathroom she died in. She helps Harry and Ron discover the titular Chamber. Hewitt-Richards has been in the British dramas Code of Silence and Casualty, and steps into the role after Shirley Henderson played Moaning Myrtle in the film series. HBO has assembled an all-new cast, starting with young lead actors Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. They'll be supported by John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland as George Weasley, Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe, William Nash as Gregory Goyle, Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick, and Sirine Saba as Pomona Sprout. The robust cast also includes Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley, Richard Durden as Cuthbert Binns, Louise Brealey as Rolanda Hooch, Bríd Brennan as Poppy Pomfrey, Leigh Gill as Griphook, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone will premiere on HBO on Dec. 25.
