Gianluigi Donnarumma: Could do little about any of Sunderland's goals but all over the place when coming out for high balls into the box. 5Matheus Nunes: Was napping when a ball came over the top, allowing Angulo to sneak in behind and lay a pass off for Brobbey to finish. 5Ruben Dias: Not the captain's best game. Caught flat-footed for Brobbey's opening goal and beaten to the ball in the middle of the park on another occasion. Did make a remarkable goalline clearance to prevent an own goal. 5Marc Guehi: Will have an assist alongside his name but an otherwise uncomfortable afternoon for the England international. 5Josko Gvardiol: Failed to close down Enzo le Fee for Sunderland's second goal but provided the cross for Erling Haaland's goal. 6Elliot Anderson: The former Newcastle man was jeered throughout by the travelling Sunderland fans, but made more passes than any other player on the pitch. 6Enzo Fernandez: Curled in a delightful free-kick for his first City goal and the crafty Argentine saw plenty of the ball in the pockets outside the box. Becoming a fans' favourite with the "Enzo, Enzo" chant. 7Iliman Ndiaye: Started in place of the suspended Phil Foden and was lively throughout. Unlucky not to get an assist after laying a ball on to Erling Haaland with the goal gaping. 6Antoine Semenyo: Back in form. Twice thumped home for his first goals of the season and kept the ball alive to poke through a pass for Rayan Cherki's goal. 9Rayan Cherki: Near his best in this game with some delightful touches. Quick feet and trickery helped create City's opener, and stayed cool to stroke home City's second goal in the first half. 8Erling Haaland: Sunderland had been the only Premier League team the Norwegian had not scored against. Looked like staying that way when he missed an easy opportunity in the first half but he ended that run with a finish late on. 6Subs:Jeremy Doku (on 74, Ndiaye): Returned from a calf injury for his first league minutes this season. 6Nico O'Reilly (on 85, Cherki): Should have scored second after coming on. 6Subs not used: Rulli, Kovacic, Ait-Nouri, Bouaddi, Allan, Khusanov, LewisRobin Roefs: Will be disappointed for the first goal. Tried to anticipate Fernandez sending in a cross but instead found himself being beaten at his near post. 4Nordi Mukiele: A tough game up against Semenyo, who scored twice. 5Kevin Danso: Poor clearance contributed to City winning the ball back high up the pitch for Cherki's goal. 5Dan Ballard: Part of a backline that conceded three goals in the opening 45 minutes. 5Dayann Methalie: Booked inside 10 minutes of his Premier League debut and given a difficult game by Ndiaye. 5Granit Xhaka: The skipper helped his side get back on level terms twice in the game, but ultimately went home with nothing. 6Noah Sadiki: Eyes opened up when he found space to shoot after darting forward, but blazed his effort high and wide. 6Thomas Meunier: The former Belgium international could have had a shot for the second goal but instead laid it on a plate for Brobbey to finish. 7Enzo le Fee: The French passmaster fizzed a lovely ball into the feet of Brobbey for Sunderland's equaliser and his cleverly disguised pass led to his side's second. 8Nilson Angulo: Could have made a name for himself but scuffed a golden chance wide in the opening five minutes. Provided the assist for Brobbey's third goal. 6Brian Brobbey: The hat-trick hero. Three finishes from close range but the Dutchman will be gutted at leaving with the match ball but no points. 10Subs:Malick Fofana (on 60, Angulo) Unable to showcase his talent in the half an hour he was on the field 6Wilson Isidor (on 68, Sadiki) Regis Le Bris went for it with two up top but the Haitian could not find a goal 6Trai Hume (on 79, Meunier) 6Subs not used: Elborg, Talbi, Ridd, O'Nien, Alderete, Ahoka
