A number of ASOS users have received worrying notifications telling them that the online retailer has been hacked.The notification, which was sent shortly before 10am on Tuesday morning, claims that the hackers have “fully compromised the Snowflake instance”.The message contains a link to a Telegram chat, threatening the ASOS DPO and IT departments to “engage with us, or we will leak it”.DPO refers to the data protection officer, someone in a company who takes responsibility for safeguarding customers’ information. Snowflake is an online data platform used by a wide array of companies, which lets organisations store, analyse, and share massive amounts of data in one location. More than 400 customers have flagged the issue on Downdetector as of 10.30am, which monitors issues with websites and apps. Asos users receive alertsuppliedMany concerned ASOS customers have posted on social media following the alert.One user wrote: “Never deleted my payment methods so quick”, while another said: “Nightmarish day in the office today for DevOps engineers at ASOS”.ASOS has around17 million customers in more than 150 countries, and reported revenues of £2.5 billion in 2025.UK law requires British companies to report any data breaches to officials within three days.
