The widow of Hairy Biker Dave Myers has responded to cruel trolls who told her to 'stop crying and get on with life' two years after his death.Best known for being one half of the cooking double act The Hairy Bikers alongside Si King, Dave died from cancer aged 66 in 2024. Liliana, 59, who married Dave in 2011, documents her grieving journey on social media and helps people navigate their own grief, loss and pain.She often lays bare her own emotions and speaks about how her late husband's death has affected her.In a lengthy post on Facebook, she wrote: 'I'd like to address some interesting views that have appeared on my page recently.'A few people, who maybe have come across my posts by chance, have commented that I should 'get on with life' and stop 'crying all over Facebook.' That's okay. It's open to everyone, and I'm not here to judge the people behind those comments or make assumptions about their lives.'But I do want to make one thing clear. My posts are not written for everyone. They are written for people who are going through one of the toughest periods of their lives. For people living through loss. For people facing uncertainty.'For people who are angry, frightened, exhausted, confused or in despair. For people trying to adjust to a life they never asked for. And most importantly, they are written from a place of grief.'Not an abstract understanding of grief. Not something I have read about in a book or observed from a distance. Well, I actually have been studying and reading about grief and human behaviour a lot!'But own grief has been the reason to go deeper into this! The kind of grief that changes you. The kind that follows you into ordinary moments, sits beside you in silence, catches you unexpectedly and makes you realise that the life you knew no longer exists in quite the same way.'I write about grief because I live with it. I write because sometimes putting words to something is the only way I can make sense of it. Because grief has so many faces — sadness, anger, fear, guilt, loneliness, disbelief, exhaustion, even moments of peace — and none of them make the grief any less real.'I have experienced enough of it to know that there is no simple instruction to 'get on with life. You do get on with life. But you do it with grief.'You learn to carry something you never wanted to carry. You learn to live around an absence. You find a way forward without pretending that what happened didn't change you.'That is what I write about. Not because I want to stay stuck in grief. Not because I want pity. And certainly not because I believe grief should define the rest of our lives.
