It’s a busy period for games. Over the past few days, Gamescom 2026 has been happening. In addition to the reveals at Gamescom 2026 ONL, there have been games announced and detailed during the Xbox Gamescom Broadcasts, as well as several titles that have been tested by Screen Rant’s team on the show floor. However, the games industry continues to move forward, even without events such as these. For example, Star Wars Zero Company was met with positive reviews ahead of its release. Releasing on October 1st, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is arriving for Nintendo Switch 2 in its physical edition. The digital version of the game was already available, but in October, players will be able to get their hands on the physical copy of the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the acclaimed JRPG with over 200 hours of gameplay. The Nintendo-exclusive game has elements from both aforementioned franchises that you will love. First and foremost, it’s an action-based game with real-time combat, though set in a high fantasy world, making it feel a lot like Final Fantasy 7 Remake or Final Fantasy 16. This 10/10 JRPG has a huge open world to explore, too, making it easy to dive into and get lost for hours. Another core feature in Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s design is its sci-fi elements, many of which are represented by giant mechs that are highly reminiscent of the Mobile Suit Gundam universe. The great thing about Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is that it does not rely on any references: it’s just good on its own. I do encourage you to check out the first Xenoblade Chronicles before playing this game, especially with its new Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition release, though it is completely playable even if you skip the original entry. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is an absolute masterpiece of a JRPG, and if you’re looking for a long game you can spend dozens, if not hundreds, of hours playing, this is the title for you.
