GTA 6 Sneakers: Rockstar Games, Nike and Travis Scott Reportedly Team Up

Rockstar Games is releasing the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 in just a few weeks, on Nov. 19, and rapper Travis Scott and Nike are reportedly getting in on the game’s hype. According to Sneaker News, Nike, Rockstar Games and Travis Scott are working together to release a set of Nike Air Force 1 ’07 sneakers themed around the upcoming game. Reports suggest the shoes will retail for $130 and be available on Nov. 19, the same day as the game’s release. The shoes will reportedly be available in three colorways. Those palettes are supposedly “White/White/Fire Pink,” “Black/Black/Fire Pink” and “Multicolor/Pale Ivory/Black/Bold Berry/Fire Pink.” The sneaker account prm.stocks.01 shared images of what the black pair would look like if you want to take a peek. The shoe will reportedly have the reverse swoosh logo traditionally seen on other Travis Scott sneakers, and the leather appears to feature a grid that looks like city blocks. The shoes have six stars on the heels, the report says, a nod to the six-star wanted level, which makes its return to the Grand Theft Auto series in the upcoming game. Grand Theft Auto 5 replaced the six-star system with a five-star system. The sneakers will also supposedly come with a $100 GTA-branded money band around the shoe’s toe box. Other Nike shoes, like the different colors of the Concepts x Nike SB Dunk Low Lobsters, have had removable rubber bands, too. And the shoe’s midsole reportedly replaces the “AIR” lettering normally on all Air Force One models with the letters “GTA.” There are likely more details that reference the game hidden throughout the shoe. Neither Nike nor Rockstar Games immediately responded to my request for comment. While there will reportedly be three colors of this shoe available, I think Nike, Rockstar and Travis Scott could have stopped at the black pair. I’m sure the other two colorways are fine, but it’s a joke that black Air Force 1 sneakers are used in various criminal and illegal activities, making that pair a perfect representation of the Grand Theft Auto series. I appreciate the six-star and money band details we see in the photos, and the pink gives the pairs a nice hint of Vice City-coded color without being too much. The black pair of these shoes reportedly comes with black and pink laces, and I’d lace up the pink ones if I ever got these shoes. However, since these are a collab between Nike, Rockstar and Travis Scott, I’m not expecting to see them on my feet. Travis Scott and Nike collaborations usually release in limited quantities, so it’s difficult to get a pair. You could always buy the shoes on eBay, StockX or a similar marketplace, but some Travis Scott and Nike collabs sell on the aftermarket for more than $1,000, depending on your size. And I’m not spending that much on a single pair of shoes. I’ve got a mortgage to pay, thank you very much.
