Sign in to your TheGamer account Despite recent price hikes and Sony's physical release controversy, the PlayStation 5 Pro is currently sold out at nearly every major retailer, and it’s not hard to guess why. Over the past year or so, the depressing RAMpocalypse has caused pretty much every bit of hardware to become much more expensive. As if not being able to afford technology wasn’t bad enough, the ongoing memory shortage has also made it incredibly difficult to even find consoles and accessories in the first place. Getting your hands on a PS5 or Xbox Series X has already been a struggle as of late, but I think we all knew that it was bound to get worse as the year went on. With Grand Theft Auto 6 on the distant horizon as the most-anticipated game of all time, current-gen consoles are only going to get scarcer, and it looks like things are already getting bad after the recent Extended Look. PS5 Pro Is Sold Out Nearly Everywhere, And It’s Surely Because Of GTA Wolverine Is Probably Making An Impact Too Key art provided by Rockstar Games. Earlier this week, Rockstar gave us our first in-depth look at GTA 6 after years of waiting and a recent spate of leaks. Unsurprisingly, the Extended Look blew everyone away and reminded everyone why we’ve been waiting so long for Rockstar’s next game. That hype also seems to have quickly put the PS5 Pro in very high demand. As pointed out by Twitter user shinobi602, the PS5 Pro is currently sold out at almost every major retailer in the US, including Target, Amazon, and Best Buy. PlayStation Direct is currently one of the only places you can find and buy a PS5 Pro, unless you’re willing to go third-party and be charged up to $1,200. The PS5 Pro has always been fairly difficult to find stock for as the most powerful version of the most popular current-gen console, but the overwhelming hype for GTA 6 after the Extended Look has surely made that scarcity worse. Although the gameplay footage came from a base PS5, we know that GTA 6 will be PS5 Pro Enhanced and likely the best way to experience Leonida. That isn’t to say that GTA 6 is the only reason that PS5 Pros are hard to find right now, though. Twitter user ZhugeEX pointed out that “part of this” is just an ongoing supply issue that Sony has been struggling with for some time. Even with that in mind, GTA 6 is clearly raising demand more than ever - if you’re still waiting to get a PS5 of any kind, now might be the time.
