Google confirms Photos bug that prevents editing and deleting, fix coming ‘ASAP’

Google Photos is undoubtedly the best way to manage your photo library on Android and beyond, but a recent bug has been stopping users from being able to commit even the most basic of tasks, including sharing, editing, and even delete images from their collection. Luckily, if you’ve found yourself dealing with these issues, Google has confirmed a fix is on the way. Various user reports on Reddit last week confirmed that a recent glitch has been preventing users from interacting with images after they’ve been edited. That includes sharing, adding to galleries, deleting, and re-editing photos, all from changes as simple as cropping an image. Luckily, Google confirmed in a statement with Android Authority — which reported on the app issues late last week — that a fix is being worked on, with the team working to roll it out “ASAP.” The Google Photos team is working on rolling out a fix ASAP! […] For now, users can try these 2 workarounds: 1) Tap “Save as copy” when saving new edits, and 2) Visit photos.google.com to delete or share already-edited photos. Until these changes are live, the company recommends either saving your image as a copy when creating new edits (to prevent locking up the original, sole copy of an image) or accessing the web version of Photos to share or delete as needed. While I can’t say I’ve seen this bug on my own Pixel 11 Pro XL, it does appear that most of the affected users — or at least those reporting the issue online — are sporting the last few generations of Google’s Tensor-powered devices.
