Published Oct 21, 2026, 5:35 AM EDT I've been writing about Android since 2011, with a focus on device reviews, Samsung and Google Pixel hardware, and the latest happenings in the ecosystem. In my entire writing career, I've reviewed more than 75 Android phones. Carrying both a Samsung or Pixel flagship and an iPhone as a daily driver provides me with deep insight into how Android works and how it compares to iOS. I have been writing for Android Police since 2021, covering news, how-tos, and features. You can find my previous work on Neowin, AndroidBeat, Times of India, iPhoneHacks, MySmartPrice, and MakeUseOf. When not working, I tend to mindlessly scroll through X, play with new AI models, or go on long road trips. You can reach out to me on X or drop a mail at rajesh@androidpolice.com. These improvements will also come to the Fitbit Air, though it seemed like Google might not bring sleep breathing quality to its screenless tracker. The company has now cleared the air on this matter, confirming that the Fitbit Air will get access to all the Health Guardian features. As part of the Health Guardian suite, Google rolled out insulin resistance trends, blood pressure trends, and sleep breathing quality to Pixel Watch 3, 4, and 5 owners in early October. The company said these features would eventually come to the Fitbit Air. However, many eagle-eyed Fitbit Air users noticed that Google’s product pages did not mention whether sleep breathing quality would come to its screenless band. Making matters worse, the comparison page on the Google Store listed sleep breathing quality as available only on the Pixel Watch 3, 4, and 5. The Google Health app added to the confusion by showing “Not available on this tracker” for breathing quality for Fitbit Air users. Google has now cleared the confusion and confirmed in a statement to Android Authority that the Fitbit Air will indeed get full access to the Health Guardians suite, including sleep breathing quality. "Sleep Breathing Quality launched first on Pixel Watches and will come to Fitbit Air soon," a Google spokesperson said in a statement to the publication. Fitbit Air owners can breathe a little easier With sleep breathing quality, the Fitbit Air will use overnight blood oxygen variations alongside advanced algorithms to estimate how long you breathe optimally while asleep. While the feature cannot diagnose sleep apnea, it could help Fitbit Air owners understand their overnight breathing patterns. Google still has not shared an exact release date for sleep breathing quality on the Fitbit Air, but at least there's now clarity that the feature will come to this screenless tracker. Unlike Pixel Watch, Fitbit Air owners will need a Google Health Premium subscription to view their sleep breathing quality data. Other Health Guardian features, including blood pressure trends and insulin resistance trends, require this subscription. While Google's statement does not mention anything about the Edge, it should also get this feature, as it has identical hardware to the Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch. If anything, Google could roll out breathing quality trends with the release of the Fitbit Edge later this month.
