Giants Place Logan Webb On Injured List

The Giants are shutting down Logan Webb, as Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports that their staff ace is going on the injured list with a blister in his middle finger. Infielder Nate Furman also gets shut down with an oblique strain. They’ll be replaced on the active roster by outfielder Victor Bericoto and righty Duncan Davitt. Bericoto is back from a knee injury that has sidelined him for close to a month, while Davitt is recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. It doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as the Giants previously revealed that Webb’s start on September 13 might be his final outing. The Padres teed off for six runs in five innings, his third clunker in his past five appearances. Webb has been solid overall but not as consistent as he’d been in previous seasons. He’ll finish the year with a 4.31 earned run average with a 50.7% ground-ball rate across 160 2/3 innings. More to come. View Comments (1)
