It's an AI-powered voice-typing feature that uses natural language to transcribe speech to text while removing filler words like "uh" and "um" to produce polished text. It could soon get an upgrade by remembering your favorite contacts and words. In the latest Gboard beta version 18.6.3.10, Android Authority performed a teardown and revealed that Google is working on two new toggles in Rambler that make voice typing more fluid. The first is the Contact names toggle, with the short verbiage "use your contacts to spell names correctly." While the details are vague, it suggests Rambler will use your contact list as a pool or cheat sheet of learned words to transcribe and correct your speech when voice typing. It appears the feature is a single-action switch with no additional context when you tap it. So you can only switch it on or off. That sounds incredible if you always mention persons' or contacts' names when typing. However, that could also create confusion if you have a diverse and cluttered contact list like mine. I organized my contacts using shortcuts or truncated long names, and the lack of customization could create confusion in Rambler. Anyhow, this is still in beta, and Google could offer more options in the final version. You can import your favorite words The other tool spotted in the app is Remember corrected words. The description below the toggle reads, "Learn and use words you've corrected when voice typing with Rambler." This indicates that users can save corrected spoken words. Rambler can use these words during transcription for faster, more accurate voice dictation. Having to correct the same words in Rambler has been the biggest frustration users have faced. It's good to see Google addressing this, even though it's a bit late. Manage corrected words in Rambler Similar to the first toggle, it's a single-end tool that only works for switching the feature on or off. Instead, there's a new Voice correction list entry. Tapping it opens the page showing your corrections when typing with Rambler. You can also export and import your corrected words as text. When importing, it shows another dialog where you can copy words or a list. It's a fantastic utility if you're coming from other keyboard apps, since you can include many dialects and local words that Rambler doesn't recognize. I would also like to test whether I can import an entire dialect or native word pool into the voice correction list, since Rambler doesn't support my local language yet. With the feature already baked into the beta, we could see Google rolling out the definitive version soon. Rambler currently supports the Google Pixel 11 series.
