Gary risks it all in Coronation Street as he takes on evil Ross in prison showdown

Gary Windass (Mikey North) is currently serving his time at His Majesty’s Pleasure for his involvement in the killing of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), someone he utterly loathed for being a vile, vicious bully. Sharing a cell with apparent getaway driver, Marco Rhodes (William Teasdale), who also happens to be Summer Spellman’s (Harriet Bibby) new beau, Gary starts to get a faint whiff of ‘eau de bully’ all over again, when he finds young Marco covered in bruises. Next week sees Gary challenge his cell mate over the fact that his arm is almost entirely purple, but Marco’s quick to brush off his concerns and throws on his jumper to hide the marks. Later, in the visiting room, Summer is wounded when she arrives to be told that Marco won’t come out of his cell, with Gary confiding in Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) that he’s convinced Marco is being victimised and Maria, fully aware of Gary’s temper, tendency to take the law into his own hands and utter hatred for bullies, pleads with him to stay out of it. Sure…that’ll work. When Marco does finally agree to come out of his cell and see Summer for a visit, she waxes lyrical over how brilliant Ross is, and how lucky he is to have him watching his back, leaving Marco awkwardly nodding in agreement. ‘Gary finds it really strange and doesn’t quite know what’s going on,’ Mikey says of how he handles Ross initially. Gary, of course, confronts Ross, who’s quick to remind him that, in prison, he’s the one that holds all the power. Is Gary’s prison spell about to get even worse?
