It was inevitable that Game of Thrones would get follow-ups, spin-offs, and further adaptations. The original novels are some of the best-selling works of fiction of all time, already proving to be successful long before the show rolled around, and the HBO adaptation saw its popularity further skyrocket and quickly become a must-watch for absolutely everyone. One cannot escape the pull of George R. R. Martin's epic, nor its influence in media since, which is why it is not particularly surprising that Warner Bros. has elected to capitalize on said success in every way imaginable. The subsequent spin-offs and numerous upcoming Game of Thrones projects have all proven to be rather enjoyable, albeit nowhere near as compelling as either the books or the original show. However, that doesn't mean they aren't worth engaging with, especially for those who are longing for another way in which to immerse themselves in GoT's expansive universe, or those exhaustively awaiting the next novel in the series. One upcoming GoT release titled Lord of Light may be worth paying attention to, especially as the project it is connected to is experiencing a massive overhaul. One of the more successful Game of Thrones spin-offs is Game of Thrones: Conquest. One could also argue it was the most inevitable spin-off, being both a mobile game released at the peak of the medium's popularity and one heavily reliant on microtransactions. Conquest has garnered tens of millions of downloads since its release, a feat not easily achieved, and is largely well-received by fans who enjoy its focus on strategic gameplay and utilization of the show's greatest characters. As part of Game of Thrones: Conquest's 9th anniversary celebrations, it is receiving numerous quality-of-life improvements, new features, and events, one of which is the aforementioned Lord of Light. This is a PvP event initially introduced back in March 2021 that has run multiple times since, including this August. The event sees players battle, wounding one another's units and attempting to attack each other's keeps. However, as should be evident by the event's name, Lord of Light isn't like the other PvP events, as players' units cannot die, and when they are wounded, they merely return to fighting strength. It's a fun and perfectly apt twist and one that fans enjoy time after time. There are, of course, numerous other events coming to Conquest in October, including a handful of other PvP-focused soirées. Additionally, there are the aforementioned quality-of-life improvements that aim to transform the game in order to meet player demands. The major changes being added to the game include: Better Sort Reinforcements Bookmark Organization Recipe Favoriting Relic Indicator in Relic Recipes March Pawn Panel Info Update Filter Gear by Craftability Two New Research Trees For those interested in the Lord of Light event, it is taking place between October 16 and October 19. In addition to the Lord of Light event in Game of Thrones: Conquest, players can also expect the Climb PvP event, which is running between October 24 and October 25, the Test Your Mettle event, which is also running for just one day between October 24 and October 25, and the Profit from Chaos PvP event, which is taking place between October 30 and November 2nd. Game of Thrones: Conquest is completely free-to-play, and anyone can take part in these ongoing events across October, including the Lord of Light PvP event. However, it is worth mentioning once again that the game uses microtransactions for the vast majority of its content, including unlocking unique and valuable characters. If you miss the Lord of Light event this time around, don't worry as, much like Beric Dondarrion in Game of Thrones, it has a habit of returning.
