Gail MacKinnon To Step Down From Top MPA Post

September 24, 2026 7:19am Max Taylor EXCLUSIVE: Gail MacKinnon will step down as the Motion Picture Association‘s senior executive vice president for global policy and government affairs at the end of October. MPA Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin announced her departure in an email to employees on Thursday. He wrote, “It’s hard to put into words what Gail has meant to the MPA over the past decade. She’s been a beloved leader, a trusted partner to me, an encouraging mentor to so many, a remarkable manager, and a dear friend. She’s taken our domestic and global policy and government affairs operations to unseen levels of accomplishment. She’s been a deeply respected voice for our industry and a dedicated advocate for our member companies in Washington and around the world.” Rivkin wrote that MacKinnon has agreed to be available to him for any transition matters through the end of the year.
