Gabby’s illness diagnosed after terrifying blood discovery in Emmerdale

Manpreet makes a discovery (Picture: ITV) Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) has been battling a secret illness in Emmerdale, one so secret, even she doesn’t know it. For months now, Gabby’s been avoiding eating anything that she deems unhealthy. It led to Dawn finding her collapsed on the kitchen floor after she failed to eat enough to keep herself conscious. She visited Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) after this, but the attention on her disordered eating was eclipsed by the concern that she might be pregnant. She was encouraged by Manpreet to take a pregnancy test because she wasn’t on the pill, horrifying Dawn (Olivia Bromley) that she might be trying to get pregnant by Billy (Jay Kontzle) and causing all kinds of drama. Her health obsession continued unchecked. Her obsession with clean eating bled into her business, seeing her change the menus at the Hide to reflect her fixation. But even with clean food everywhere, her secret illness convinces her it’s still not enough. She develops a nasty cough, and pops to see Manpreet. The GP suspects it might be bacterial bronchitis, which, unfortunately for health-conscious Gabby, means taking medication. As she thinks only organic goods should pass her lips, this medication will not be taken by her. And thus, this illness will not get better. Her business is also suffering almost as much as her health, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) is ready to say enough is enough to their healthy menu as it is damaging their profits given that not only does no one want to order them, Gabby is making them buy the best produce to create them. Laurel and Gabby fall out as Gabby stands her ground, so Laurel walks away from the business. As Laurel leaves, Gabby coughs into a tissue and is alarmed to see blood.
