Fury as tubs of Heroes, Roses AND Celebrations slashed in size by up to a quarter despite prices soaring

TUBS of Heroes, Celebrations and Roses have been cut in size by up to a quarter — while their price has soared over the past five years. The festive favourites have been crushed again this year, capping half a decade of shrinkflation misery. Celebrations tubs have gone from 650g to 500g. Parent company Mars Wrigley brought in 500g tubs alongside 550g ones last year. But this year it discontinued the 550g ones. A 650g tub cost £5 in 2021, or £7.69 a kilo. But the price is now £7 for 500g, or £14 a kilo, almost half the value for money. Nestlé’s Quality Street has dropped from 650g to 550g, but has gone from £5 to £7. It comes despite a drop in the price of cocoa. Consumer expert Martyn James said because of that, shrinkflation and price rises were no longer justified.
