From Rs 1.2 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh: Baby sold, moved between 2 states in 48 hours

Police have arrested seven people, including the baby's biological mother.The baby's price rose from Rs 1.20 lakh to Rs 3.50 lakh during transfer.A shocking case involving the sale of a one-month-old baby has come to light in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, with police uncovering an interstate racket.Within 48 hours, the baby was taken from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Nanded and then Telangana, with the price rising from Rs 1.20 lakh to Rs 3.50 lakh.Police have arrested seven people, including the baby's biological mother, in connection with the case and recovered the child safely from Hyderabad.The case came to light after the police registered a case on September 24 and began investigating the sale and the financial transactions linked to it. According to a senior officer, accused Seema sold the child to Sangita Awhad for Rs 2.70 lakh. Sangita and Suresh Guntuka, who claimed to be a doctor, then exchanged the child in Nanded.The investigation subsequently led police to Uma Khatkam in Hyderabad, who bought the child for Rs 3.50 lakh. Police said the baby's biological parents, Vandana and Yogesh Kaamre, got Rs 1.2 lakh and used the money to purchase gold jewellery worth around Rs 62,000 and two branded smartphones.The child was eventually traced to Hyderabad and safely recovered by the police before being brought back to Maharashtra.Following an order by the Child Welfare Committee, the infant was handed over to an organisation.- Ends
