Four High Courts get 14 judges, including Delhi

Image used for representational purposes only. | Photo Credit: Getty Images/iStockphoto As many as 14 judges were on Saturday (September 19, 2026) appointed to four high courts, including Delhi.According to separate law ministry notifications, two judges and five additional judges have been appointed to the Delhi High Court while one judge has been appointed to the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.Three judges have been appointed to the Jharkhand High Court and three additional judges to the Karnataka High Court.Judicial officers and advocates are appointed as judges of high courts.Additional judges are usually appointed for a period of two years before being elevated as judges or what is popularly called as permanent judges.
