Former Liverpool star, 30, becomes unemployed as contract is terminated just two days before start of season

However, with under 40 appearances for Girona and Gremio in the last two seasons, Arthur has seen his contract at Juventus terminated a year early. Juventus’ X account reported: “The Club have reached an agreement for the mutual termination of Arthur Melo‘s contract.” According to Sky Sports Italia, the player and club were working to find an agreement that would see the Brazilian leave before his deal naturally expired. Juventus have been prioritising exits for high earners not in the long-term plans of manager, Luciano Spalletti. Arthur has been deemed a big-money flop, arriving in Turin in 2020 from Barcelona for around £70million.
